Flat has old grotty wetroom. Quotes £4-9k to convert to bathroom, would just doing up wetroom devalue my home?

My dilemma in full!!! I have recently bought an ex-council flat, the bathroom is a wetroom (was built for a disabled person 10 years ago). I want it converted back to a bathroom as it is mouldy, ugly, grotty and very noisy (thanks to the pump). Not a fancy wetroom! However as it appears it is going to be a nightmare job, quotes from a range of companies have come back as £4-9k (even extra for re-tiling and flooring). I miss having baths and also whilst I am happy in my flat at present if I did decide to sell up in the future would having a bath increase the value enough to really justify the extra costs of this job? Or should I just opt for having the wetroom ventilated and modernised into a trendy one, as either way the room needs doing up dramatically? Thanks!!

  1. How long do you intend to stay there? Wetrooms are very fashionable at the moment so if you are only going to be there a couple of years I'd say to modernise it as it is. If you are going to be there longer, do what you want to do and turn it back into a bathroom. Personally I think a wetroom could incorporate a bath in some way, perhaps this is what you need to consider?
