How soon after getting a tattoo can you cover it up with make-up? Any suggestions for the best make-up to use?

me and my friends are planning on getting a tattoo soon but our parents won't know. we were planning on using makeup to keep the tats a secret 4 a while. so how soon after gettig our tats will it be ok to cover it with makeup?

2. I really don't think make up will cover the tattoo. I believe it will still be visible. Anyway to answer the question it takes a few weeks for it to heal.

4. A tattoo doesn't heal until at least 2 weeks after you get it finished. I wouldn't put any make up on it at least till then, or maybe even 3 weeks later. If you do decide to put make up on it, don't use makeup that is scented. Your best bet would be to ask an artist at the shop what they think. When I got my first tattoo I just showed it to my mom as soon as i got home. Your parents are going to see it within a few weeks anyways (i'm assuming) , so it's probably better to get it over with and be straight up with them.
5. I don't think you're gonna be able to cover it up with makeup, the dyes are pretty dark. Just get it in a spot that's not often visible, like your hip.

8. There is specialty makeups made to cover up dark birthmarks and/or tattoos. They will cover a tattoo completely. However, you cannot put it on your tattoo until it is completely healed which can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. That said, I think you should be up front with your parents. If you are under age, wait. Any decent tattoo artist will not touch you if you are under 18. If you are of legal age, just be honest. Wouldn't you rather they find out from you directly than on accident?

11. It takes the body approximately 8 weeks to fully heal after getting a tattoo. It looks healed and feels healed at about 2 weeks, but it really takes 8 weeks to fully heal. I wouldn't try to cover any tattoo with makeup until at least that long. If you have to get a tattoo that you need to cover up, i would consider getting it in a place that is easily covered up by clothing, instead of having to worry about covering it up with makeup. I have had friends in theater, who had to cover their tattoos, and they have always used morticians wax, although i don't think that is available to the general public.
