Do you know any cooking secrets on chopping up an egg for potato salad?

  1. i just quarter the egg, and then slice off the end...
  2. My Auntie likes big chunks of hard boiled egg in her salad. Last week we made a huge batch for a big party...rubber glove on right hand, butter knife in left (or visa versa if left handled). Hold hard boiled egg in right hand over bowl, cut into thirds crosswise and then in half lengthwise and drop into bowl as you go..lost count of how many eggs.
  3. If you want the egg to semi stay together- make the salad first atn then lay slices of hard boiled egg on top. They are very delicate, so either bits and pieces or slices on top!
  4. you hard boil an egg get a sharp knife and mince it or make it into large chunks.
  5. My mom always uses a cheese grater. =) Not too fine of a shred though.
  6. dip the knife in hot water before cutting it will let knife glide through easier
  7. I use a pastry blender, you can slice and dice with it, make it as fine as you want or as chunky, it works really well for making egg salad.
