playing a male part in a play, any tips on clothing/make up/body language?
i'm playing a teenage boy (am a teenage girl) in a play. whats the difference between the ways girls and boys move? does anyone know how to make a girl look like a guy? we tried it and managed to get a guyish look but it was obviously fake, and i need to look male-ish pretty close up, so it cant be obvious. any tips on playing male parts for girls are appreciated- i've no clue! thanks : )

- i suggest you do some people watching and observe guys body language

- maybe wear a hat and hide ur hair in it
- First, the simple physical differences. Your hips are wider. Compensate by turning your knees in slightly when you walk. Your elbows are turned at a different angle. Rotate your hands so the thumbs point forward, and keep your elbows slightly closer to your body than natural. Second, the attitude. You probably turn the pitch of your voice up at the end of many sentances - this makes them tentative. Make everything you say sound like you know it is true, and obvious. Don't turn your shoulders in. If a boy slouches, the shoulders go down, not forward. Carry your head forward on your neck. Think about hitting the next person you see - that will put your body in the right position for a teen boy.
- Lots of women want to pass as men for performances or other reasons. There's a whole genre of entertainment, drag, which focuses on one gender playing the part of another. Likely, you've heard of drag queens, but there are also drag kings. Here's a website that has tips on helping you pass for a guy. NSFW though. http://www.dantedifranco.com/HowTo.htm Wiki is always helpful. http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_king Well, I realize that this may be a little overkill, but here are some links to "passing" tips for female to male (ftm) trans people: http://www.geocities.com/FTMpass/passing.html http://www.geocities.com/seanmiller32/passing.html Again, maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but I hope it helps some.
