Why do conservatives make up quotes?
I asked for a word for word quotation of what Obama's pastor said against white people. This is what some conservative gave me: "Black people are being held down by rich white people"....."Rich white people give black drugs, arrest them, and throw them in jail"...."The black problems are all caused by white people". http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvcHwUSWYtXLQyzhB8y01RPS7BR.;_ylv=3?qid=20080318100310AAvsUs4 None of these quotes are true. Obama's preacher ranted against the government, not white people. People still recced BD's post because they seem most concerned with bashing Obama then seeking the truth. His controversial statements start with the word ((((WE))))) and the ((((((THE GOVERNMENT))))))), not white people. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4443788&page=1
Public Comments
- Maybe they're illiterate.
- Unfortunately, the quotes are true. The reverend did say it.
- The remarks were as racist in undertone as the crap the Klan put out. Being mealy mouthed does not excuse racism, and whether you hide behind a sheet or a pulpit makes no difference. Senator Obama appears to be too inexperienced to have learned that you must challenge racism as much in your friends as in your enemies. His courage and audacity seem to be unused in his religious life.
- I'd like to appologize for some of my fellow conservatives for getting a little carried away. But I assure you that not all of us conservatives are like this, most of us are good people.
- What do you expect in a hot political climate... people are stupid and jump the gun even when something like this isn't on... it only intensifies during such an occasion.
