If you had a make-up artist shop in your area would you go to it?
I WAS THINKING ABOUT SETTING UP MY OWN BUSINESS, AS A MAKE-UP ARTIST. IS THERE ANY POINT IN OPENING UP A SALON/SHOP TO DO THE MAKE-UP IN? I NEED SUGGESTIONS

- They do (at the mall), and I don't.
- Yeah I think so. You'd get a lot of trade from weddings too. I know of make up artists who've set up as part of a hairdresser or beauty salon, I think it'd be great to have a make up artist shop! Where will it be?
- I would only use if for special occasions, the area in which I live isn't salubrious enough to warrant women going to have their make up done on a daily basis.
- I would go...as a normal working person I would love to have a place to go to get a make-over or just some make-up tips for a new look. I think that you would be very succesful! We always see these makeover shows on t.v. and their dramatic transformations, but never know where to go to get the same treatment! Good Luck and GO FOR IT! I dont think you would regret it!
- I wouldnt now because i've had my makeup done professionally before and I hate the way they just cake it on. I like very light makeup and really hate lipstick/gloss. I told the woman this and she said she would just put a little on, but she slicked these horrible thick pink lips onto me (ok it was for a wedding, but still..!) My advice... listen to what your client asks for and dont just to crazy with it. I felt like a clown when it was finished.
- It might, depending on your area. If there were other salons or shops that catered to such things, like hair salons - beauty salons, spas .. you might make a go of it. Why not work in conjunction with a spa or established salon? It would have to be in a trendy in-town area, I'd think. Most folks know they can get it done free at the local department store - without paying salon mark-up prices for make up (which is where you'd need to make your money). Merle Norman and Ulta 2 have them - so you wouldn't want to be near one of them!
- Yes I would go, I would also take classes if I could. You may make money teaching others too. Offer a free class, with just the basics to get a customer base. Divide the classes into sessions. Good Luck
- Depends where you live. Generally no.
