What are the secrets to make my pup grow big? Like any injectable OTC drug or growth booster or effective vit?

My golden ret is very small. She's 3 mos. and 6 days old now but she has a very narrow head and weighs i think only around 9 kilos. She also has a narrow muzzle. I'm exhausted with all my plans to make her broad. I feed her a high protein puppy dry dog food but apparently i only saw almost nil of improvements. I believe at this certain period of puppy's stage is her optimum growth gain and that's why i want to bombard her with exceptionally effective drugs, booster, vitamins, or whatsoever just to compensate the days she lost with the vital nutrients for her growth she prequisitely needed. I fervently hope you could share some of your lores and secrets in making puppies and dogs grow big. Thanks. Lionel, 30, Cebu, Philippines I know someone who uses an injectable vitamins, he said it could be used to improve appettite and enhance the growth factor of the dog. Alas, i forgot the particular vitamins or OTC drug. That's why i'm curious and earnest to ask you this.

  1. You start pumping your dog with drugs, you will make an addict out of her, and might even kill her.
  2. Feed her a good brand of kibble.Genetics play a big role in size of pups.Females are generally smaller than males.Don't mess around just realize you have a Golden REt on the small size and love her for who and what she is.
  3. Most female golden retrievers I know were quite small and narrow at 3 months. These dogs dont get broard until they have fully grown, like at 2 years old. If you want a huge big dog, you should buy a different breed. Nothing you feed this pup will make it grow bigger than it is genetically programed to become. Why cant you just love it like it is??
  4. Why would you want ot inject your doggie with anything>> that is horrible.. Feed her healthy foods and get her regular exercise and she will grow...
  5. Please allow nature to decide the size of your puppy rather than drugs or "lores"....Just enjoy and love her the way God made her.
  6. Lionel, We used to have a Golden Ret. and she was not huge, if you want a large dog, then a Golden is not the one for you, they were not bred for largeness, but to be what they call the Gentleman's dog. They are average sized by nature. Some are bigger than others, especially males. She will fill out in time, she is still a puppy, so don't give her anything but what you are already and see what she turns out to be and I'm sure if you like her already you'll love what she is when grown. We adored our Golden because she turned out to be the best. Read up on what the Goldens were bred for and what their natural temperment is and she may not be the kind of dog you appreciate.
  7. It is plain to me that your Golden is what she is. No amount of vitamins or anything else will make her into something she is not. Her head shape will not change because that is just the way she was bred! A Goldens head shape and size is determined by the parents and if the parents had narrow heads and not a big blocky head then your Goldens head will always be narrow. You cant change the genes that were passed down to her. Most females are smaller in Goldens to begin with, so no matter what you try to do she will be what she will be. Stop trying to make her something she can never be. Your going to make her very ill.
  8. genetics!! look at the parents of this pup,, that is what she will look like.....females typically have narrower heads, and smaller frames,,many females are much smaller boned...... i would strongly advise you to stop trying for rapid growth,,, it will cause harm to her growth plates and as you know, hip dyplasia is common in goldens
  9. feed your puppy a good quality, large breed puppy food, do not let her get fat and keep her up to date on vaccinations and worming. you cannot change how big your puppy will mature at with diet, she will reach her potential when grown and what her gentics tell her to grow into.. Puppies go though all sorts of strage stages, and can look terrible at some ages, so give her time to mature.. don't force her.Honetly it is very common for goldens to be leggy at her age..and her head is just going though a stage.. the only way to know what she "might" grow into is If her parents have the qualities you liked then she will very likley have them when full grown, if the parents did not,,they themselves where lacking substance, had narrow heads.. then no amount of diet or supplements are going to change the fact she is going to be similar to them.. It has been proven.. over and over.. that feeding for fast growth, extra supplements can ruin the joints and bones of a dog.. If you want to ruin your dog, its health and risk the chances of serious debilitating bone problems,, supplement and feed high protien food.. So don't do it.. I would recommend you get her off the high protien diet,, NO SUPPLEMENT!!!!! and feed her a good quality moderate protien diet formulated for all life stages or a large breed puppy food.. giving puppies on a good quality food, Extra meat, protien, calcium is not healthy..and you could damage her bones and alter her conformation if you rush things.. It is best for all dogs to grow and mature at a nice slow pace, she will reach her gentic potential for size and substance,, but she might take a little longer (far healthier) and go though some honest to goodnes butt ugly stages.. that is part of puppy hood.. Do not expect her to look like a adult untll at minimum a year of age.. good luck Amanda
