Help with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PS1 Game? Game is locking up...?

I recently bought a used copy of the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets game for Playstation 1, and I'm having some trouble with it. I've gotten up to the part of the game where Harry goes to Diagon Alley for ingredients for the Polyjuice potion, and gotten past that part with no trouble. But aafter it saves and tries to go to the next level, it freezes up on the "Loading" screen. It shows a picture of a dungeon or something, then about 5 minutes later the "Loading" bar comes up. But it never actually finishes loading the level. Has anyone else had a similar problem, or is my game faulty? If others have had the same problem, how can I fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. LOL. No one is going to help you with a PS1 game. LMAO
2. I had this game with a similar problem, only near the end of the game. Make sure your disk/ playstation is clean. Can't help you any further then that though.
